Current Developments in Russia-EU Relations

On 11 November, 2021, Alexey Gromyko, Director of the Institute of Europe (RAS), took part in the Eleventh Meeting in the “EU-Russia” Series held by the Russian International Affairs Council (RIAC) and the Embassies of the Chair Countries of the Council of the European Union.

This time the event was dedicated to Russia and the EU relations in the period of Slovenia’s Presidency of the Council of the EU. The Opening session was chaired by Igor IVANOV, President of the Russian International Affairs Council. The audience was addressed by Alexander GRUSHKO, deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia, Stanislav RAŠČAN, state secretary/ first deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Slovenia, Mitja SLAVINEC, state secretary, Ministry of Education, Science and Sport of Slovenia, Branko RAKOVEC, Ambassador of Slovenia to Russia and Markus EDERER, Ambassador of the EU to Russia. 

Prof. Gromyko opened Session 1 “Current Developments in Russia-EU Relations”, which was moderated by Andrey Kortunov, RIAC director general. He was followed by Jernej MÜLLER, director general, Directorate for Common Foreign and Security Policy / Political Director, MFA of Slovenia, Nikolay KOBRINETS, director of Department of European Cooperation, MFA of Russia, and Mr Michael SIEBERT, managing director for Russia, Eastern partnership, Central Asia, Regional cooperation and OSCE-European Union External Action Service. Session 2 was dedicated to the topic of Western Balkans.
